Every year, APAHA awards scholarships to qualified applicants to ensure their continuing education and dedication to sharing knowledge about AAPI Heritage. Please join us to congratulate the following scholarship recipients. We encourage them develop into great leaders for our communities.
Michael Nguyen
Dr. Martha J Wong Scholarship Recipient
Michael will be attending the United States Military Academy this summer where he intends on becoming a Behavioral Sciences and Leadership major while minoring in Diversity & Inclusion Studies.
Trâm Anh Lê
Mariam Issa Community Service Scholarship Award Recipient
Trâm Anh Lê is a senior at Jersey Village High School, Houston, TX. She used to have a lot of struggles when it comes to learning by English. However, she did not give up. She has kept improving her English skills through working and studying.
Cassie Mai
Mariam Issa Community Service Scholarship Award Recipient
Cassie Mai is a senior and will be graduating as the Salutatorian of North Shore Senior High School. Her extracurriculars throughout high school include band, math and science club, and anchor club. She will attend the University of Texas at Austin this fall and major in mechanical engineering.
Katrina Machetta
Nelvin Joseph Adriatico Scholarship Recipient
As a writer and poet, Katrina uses her writing talents to be an advocate for marginalized communities. Katrina plans to pursue a journalism career and has plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) in the fall.
Hannah Nguyen
Hannah Nguyen is a senior at Clements High School. She is the vice president of her school's chapter of National Honor Society and the secretary of Clements Habitat for Humanity. She will be attending the University of Texas at Austin in the fall and will major in Health and Society
Nicholas Le
Nicholas Le is a senior at Carnegie Vanguard High School. And, he will attend Texas A&M university this fall and is majoring in biomedical sciences. He is a member of National Honor Society, captain of the varsity Track and Cross-Country team.
Ryan Chen
Ryan Chen is a senior at Obra D. Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas. And, he will be attending the University of Texas at Austin. He serves as the president and captain of his school’s Quiz Bowl team, which he steered to a top 50 finish in the 2021 High School National Championship Tournament.
Aaron Duong
Aaron Duong is a senior at Cypress Falls High School. Aaron will attend Rice University this fall. He is on the Varsity Swimming and Varsity Water Polo teams throughout high school and likes to play Spike ball.
Stephanie Wang
Stephanie is a senior at Seven Lakes High School in Katy, Texas and an incoming student at Harvard University studying Molecular/Cellular Biology and Government. Stephanie is the author of Epidemiology Unmasked.
Jasmine Zheng
Jasmine Zeng is a senior at Stratford High School and a member of the EMERGE Fellowship program. Jasmine will attend Carnegie Mellon University this fall and plans to major in business administration with a pre-law path.
Christine Yuan
Christine Yuan is a senior at Clements High School. She’s a National Merit Finalist and will be graduating in the Top 1% of her class. She will attend the University of Texas at Austin this fall where she’ll be majoring in Computer Science and Business Honors.
Tommy Wan
Tommy Wan (he/him) is a high school senior at The Village School in Houston, Texas. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin to study Civil Engineering and Government. He is currently a youth organizing intern for OCA-Greater Houston.
Radhani Kapoor
Radhani Kapoor is a senior at Katy High School. And, will be attending Rice University this fall majoring in Computational and Applied Mathematics. She was named an All-American Academic recipient from the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association.
Daniel Xu
Daniel Xu is the valedictorian and a senior Memorial High School, and an incoming freshman at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, studying business analytics. he was interested and competed in debate, philosophy, and business-related activities.
Lakshya Gupta
Lakshya Gupta is a senior at Tompkins High School and will be attending UT Austin for Computer Engineering in the coming fall. Lakshya has won several computer science and stem awards through Tompkins Robotics, TSA, and CS UIL.
Amyn Macknojia
Amyn Macknojia is a senior at Clements High School. He authored a research paper on the Effects of Bioprinting in Medicine which was published in the ACTA Scientific Journal. He will attend the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor to study Biomedical Engineering this fall.
