2020 Scholarship Recipients
Every year, APAHA awards scholarships to qualified applicants to ensure their continuing education and dedication to sharing knowledge about AAPI Heritage. Please join us to congratulate the following scholarship recipients. We encourage them develop into great leaders for our communities.
Isabel An
Isabel An is an incoming freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. She will be pursuing a dual degree in international studies and economics as part of the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business.
Daniel Chen
Daniel Chen is a second generation Chinese-American. He attended Clear Lake High School in Southeast Houston, and will attend UT Austin in fall to study business. In high school, he did orchestra, debate, and wrestling.
Taha Jafry
Taha Jafry is an incoming freshman attending Cornell University in the fall! He lives by the idea that a strong worth ethic translates into ultimate success. He spends his free time playing basketball with his friends and family.
Michelle Li
Michelle Li is an incoming freshman at Carnegie Mellon University. Her major will be in computer science. In high school, she devoted her time to artificial intelligence research, tutoring students in STEM, and leading various organizations such as orchestra and NHS.
Van Nguyen
She is a first-generation Vietnamese American. She recently graduated from the Houston Academy for International Studies and will be attending Bryn Mawr College in the fall. Her major is currently undecided, however, she has a passion for education and humanitarian work.
Grace Wang
Grace Wang is a recent graduate and valedictorian of Bellaire High School. During her time at Bellaire, she was heavily involved in her school’s Girls Who Code club as Co-President and in the Varsity Tennis team as a team captain.
