2025 Scholarship Recipients

Every year, APAHA awards scholarships to qualified applicants to ensure their continuing education and dedication to sharing knowledge about AAPI Heritage. Please join us to congratulate the following scholarship recipients. We encourage them develop into great leaders for our communities.

Sophia Kuo

  H-E-B Scholarship Recipient   

Sophia is a senior at Houston Christian High School who will be majoring in Public Policy at Duke University this fall. She's a National Merit Scholar, a two-time recipient of the Presidential Service Award, and a Texas Bluebonnet Girls State Delegate. She is heavily involved in her school’s leadership as the President of the National Honor Society, HC Asian Culture Club and HC Orchestra.

Ali Hussain

  H-E-B Scholarship Recipient   

Ali is a senior at William P. Clements High School and will be pursuing Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. As a recipient of the Amazon Future Engineers Scholarship and an upcoming Jane Street AMP Scholarship, Ali is passionate about using technology and policy to uplift marginalized communities.

Karen Nguyen

  H-E-B Scholarship Recipient   

Karen Nguyen is a senior at East Early College High School who will be pursuing Psychology at Dartmouth College.  She is the President and founder of the Asian Culture Club at her school and has led events such as local boba collaborations and Rice University College Workshop.

Elsa Syed

  Mariam Issa Community Service Scholarship Recipient  

Elsa is a senior at Stephen F. Austin High School. She serves as Division 3s Lieutenant Governor for Key Club International, where she has helped expand membership, organize community projects, and represent her division at district and international events.

  Mariam Issa Community Service Scholarship Recipient  

Charintorn is an Alief Early College High School senior who will pursue Exercise Science at the University of Houston. He shows himself to be a well-rounded student by balancing college courses at Houston Community College, on the road to graduating with an associate's degree in science, while taking on many leadership roles around his school.

Michelle Chen

  Mariam Issa Community Service Scholarship Recipient  

Michelle Chen is a senior at John Randolph Foster High School. At Foster, she has served as the chairman of testing in DECA and is currently the vice president. In these positions, She shares her passion for entrepreneurship with the members in the club as well as throughout the school, helping the club expand more than twofold within three years.

  Mariam Issa Community Service Scholarship Recipient  

Dylan is a Senior at Cypress Ridge High School and will be attending the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business in the Fall. He plans to study either accounting or finance. Dylan is an active member of both his school's Orchestra and Track team.

Dhrumi Shah

  Mariam Issa Community Service Scholarship Recipient  

Dhrumi is a senior at Clear Lake High School and will be pursuing biomedical engineering at Texas A&M University.  She graduated as a National Merit Finalist and 4th in her class at Clear Lake High School, but her accomplishments extend far beyond academics.

Devansh Joshi

 APAHA Scholarship Recipient  

Devansh is a senior at Bridgeland High School and will be pursuing Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He is also actively involved in community service through organizations such as BAPS  Charities, Key Club, the Gayatri Consciousness Center, and the Gujarati Brahmin Samaj of Houston.

Faustina Tran

 APAHA Scholarship Recipient  

Faustina Tran is the valedictorian of Chavez High School and an aspiring mechanical engineer. She serves as President of the  Rotary Interact Club and Senior Representative for the Asian American Club, demonstrating her strong commitment to service and cultural advocacy.

Han is an incoming freshman at Trinity University in the fall of 2025. I’m a first-generation Vietnamese-American and college student double majoring in finance and art history with a minor in business law.

 APAHA Scholarship Recipient  

Neha Varghese is a senior at Lawrence E. Elkins High School who will be pursuing Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. She is actively involved in her community as a volunteer and changemaker. She is passionate about research, having conducted and presented a project with the University of Texas.
