Sharan Gahunia was born in London, England and raised in Houston, Texas, holding dual citizenship that reflects both her roots and her global outlook. She grew up in a family of entrepreneurs; her parents opened the legendary Raja Sweets in Houston’s Mahatma Gandhi District in April 1986. Today, as a second-generation owner, Sharan continues the family legacy by helping run the business on weekends while pursuing her weekday career in aviation with United Airlines.

A proud single mother to her daughter Ariya, Sharan has a deep love for travel, culture, and community. In her free time, she volunteers with the Houston Food Bank and other local organizations, giving back to the city that shaped her. She enjoys exploring Houston’s ever-evolving food scene, embracing the city’s rise as a culinary capital of the South and constantly discovering new favorite spots along the way.
